Privacy notice
This notice explains how Freedom Design, a personal coaching practice run by Michael Kiernan in Ireland, handles personal information under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988–2018.
Who is responsible for your information
Michael Kiernan, trading as Freedom Design, is the data controller for the information you share through this website and during coaching. You can contact Michael at mkmichaelkiernan@gmail.com.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry, we collect your name, email address, any message you choose to include, the date of your enquiry and a record that you agreed to this notice. To protect against spam, a one-way scrambled form of your internet address is also stored; it cannot be used to identify you. Please don't include health or other sensitive personal details in the form.
If you go on to work together, notes may be kept about sessions and agreed actions, so that coaching can build from one conversation to the next.
Why we use it, and the legal basis
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange an initial conversation — based on your consent and on taking steps at your request before entering an agreement.
- To provide coaching if you decide to go ahead — necessary to carry out our agreement with you.
- To keep records the law requires, such as financial records — legal obligation.
Your information is never sold, and it is not used for marketing or newsletters.
Confidentiality
What you share in coaching is treated as confidential. It will not be shared with anyone else unless you agree, or unless disclosure is required by law or needed to protect someone from serious harm.
Where it is stored and who can see it
Enquiries are stored in a secure, access-controlled database used by this website. Only Michael Kiernan can view them. Our website and hosting providers process data on our behalf under contract and may store it within or outside the European Economic Area, with appropriate safeguards in place.
How long it is kept
Enquiries from people who do not go on to become coaching clients are deleted automatically 12 months after they are received, unless there is a legal reason to keep them longer. You can ask for your enquiry to be deleted sooner at any time. If you become a client, your information is kept for as long as we work together and afterwards only as long as needed for legal, tax or record-keeping obligations.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your information, to restrict or object to how it is used, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To make a request, email mkmichaelkiernan@gmail.com.
You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland (dataprotection.ie).
